Umpire Exam Information
Softball Canada National Umpire Exam (Available on March 1)
Exam Procedures:
1. Test to take: Choose one of the following:
- 2025 Level 1-2 FP
- 2025 Level 1-2 SP
- 2025 Level 3 FP
- 2025 Level 3 SP
- 2025 Level 4-5 FP
- 2025 Level 4-5 SP
Note: Umpires can choose to write both an FP and SP exam.
2. Enter all the required information and then begin the online exam.
3. Level 1-2 will write the first 30 questions of the exam. A level 3 will write the first 40 questions of the exam. A Level 4-5 will write all 50 questions of the exam.
4. Level 4-5 will not be a random bank of questions. The same 50 will be done by all umpires.
5. Ability to save a Level 1-5 exam for up to 14 days before it must be submitted or is deleted.
6. Ability to have up to 3 tries at any exam before it no longer records the result.
7. Umpires attending a Canadian Championship must complete the exam by June 1, all others by July 1.
Passing marks are:
- Level 1- 30/50 (60%)
- Level 2- 35/50 (70%)
- Level 3- 40/50 (80%)
- Level 4- 40/50 (80%)
Level 5 certification is operated by Softball Canada.
