Softball Saskatchewan is excited to be advertising the opportunity to be a Head Coach for one of our Districts participating in the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games U13 Girls District All-Star competition. The Saskatchewan Summer Games Softball competition will be held from July 21st - 24th in Lloydminster at Legion Ball Park.

Athletes eligible for the 2024 Saskatchewan Summer Games are female players born in 2011 and 2012 only. Each District will be allowed a maximum of three (3) Coach/Managers and two (2) must be female. All Coaches/Managers must be fully certified to a minimum of Community Softball, have their Respect In Sport (RiS) and a Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC). Please note those selected as Head Coaches will be required to attend an orientation session in March of 2024 at Davidson.

The deadline for submitting applications including a resume and a criminal record check including VSC (Vulnerable Sector Check) is February 1st, 2024.

SASKATCHEWAN SUMMER GAMES HEAD COACH QUALIFICATIONS

Selection Criteria

The following is a brief summary of the criteria used in the selection for the Head Coach of Softball Saskatchewan’s Saskatchewan Summer Games Teams for each District.

Coaching Experience

  • Success as softball coach (Provincials, Westerns, or Canadians).
  • Years of experience as a coach.
  • Scope of coaching experience (category coached).
  • Personal coaching philosophy reflects a holistic approach to coaching. (Development of life skills)
  • Proven ability to develop the skills of young softball players.

Human Resources

  • Proven ability to work in a team environment.
  • Proven ability to successfully relate to, motivate, control and work with players at this age level.
  • Proven ability to successfully cope with stress and hardships involved with competition.
  • Ability to recognize and select quality softball players to form the District Saskatchewan Summer Games team.
  • Ability to be a positive role model for fellow coaches and young athletes.
  • Ability to provide a Criminal Record Check (CRC) with Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC).

Professional Development

  • Must have minimum Community Softball and have their Respect In Sport (RiS).

Knowledge of Program

  • Proven knowledge of softball and Softball Saskatchewan programs and services.
  • Proven ability to work towards the objectives of Softball Saskatchewan’s Saskatchewan Games Program.
  • Proven ability to promote Softball Saskatchewan’s programs and services.
  • Proven appreciation for and awareness of the unique problems that may occur in the selection and operation of a District All-Star team.
